Kevin Knapp

Existing somewhere in the space between complete interplanetary dominance and sure footed, nuanced cock strong brilliance lies Carl Cox's aesthetically likened younger male sibling, Kevin Knapp. You're likely familiar with this musical philanthropist's works through the assignation of track collaborations such as "Stay Glued" and "These Days" with Audiojack. Kevin also lent his talents to Matt Tolfrey's recent debut EP on tracks like "Downtown" and "Distant story" among others. These efforts served to firmly position Kevin at the center of the intergalactic funk consulate with the likes of Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Claude Vonstroke, Magda, Eats Everything and many others world wide playing his tracks. Kevin’s music education spans much more than electronic music however and as a result, you’ll feel many similar cosmic renderings you’ve associated with other genre’s whilst enjoying his musical offerings. Being held captive by alien forces who were slaves too earth bound classical, hip hop, and indie rock based genres creates a sense of home for Kevin’s listeners in many respects. As an eminent patron of Berlin’s distinctive dance music community, Kevin is no rookie when it comes to commanding the dance floor. As a DJ, he rides the fine and unprecedented line between sonic architecture and straight up keeping it gangster. This in part is where Big Kev comes from. Depending on the time of day you may catch a glimpse of his surly sasquatch-esque, David Banner inspired alter ego “Kev”: a concoction made up of 49 percent man and 51 percent beast. If sighted, proceed with caution and please don’t feed the animals. Over the last decade, his presence behind the decks has been found in DJ booths from San Francisco to London in the world’s premiere experiential music spaces. Much like his personality, Kevin's musical style is both assertive and embracing, daring yet inevitable, laced with charisma and generally unapologetic gusto. As if beckoned by a silent conch, Kevin has recently moved to Berlin to continue his aural assault on the world's educated dance music community.Kevin's entrance onto the international stage sees him working on forthcoming collaborations with Richy Ahmed, Audiojack, DOP’s Jaw, Mat.Joe, Sacha Robotti, Kruse & Nuremberg and Signal Flow (w/ Pillow Talk’s Michael Tello). Keep your eyes open for a full EP w/ Knapp and Signal Flow due out on Leftroom this fall.Inspired by luxury space travel, Kevin has also channeled his inner celestial and will have a solo EP offering available for the heads available very, very soon. Kevin "I'm sorry, are you the bouncer? My friend forgot her ID" Knapp will not cease to deliver a steady diet of intellect and viscerally laden tunage until the whole solar system cries uncle. We strongly suggest you jump on board the ship as fortunately we see little alternative. Not bound exclusively to music, Kevin also possesses a formidable presence in the kitchen. Hailing from earth’s northern California, if you get a chance to consume one of Kev’s culinary concoctions we humbly suggest you run not walk to the table, the big man possesses substantial girth for a reason.
